Our Work

We are committed to helping frontline youth of color discover their power by grounding them in the historical context of climate justice and the role of collective and distributive power to create profound change.

We weave into a dynamic series of modules a pedagogy that provides knowledge, hands-on discovery, service learning, community science projects, relationship building, and leadership skills. Each module develops a deep, multi-faceted understanding of the challenge and develops the skills to face it head-on and transform our world.

Engage

Within the framework of ethnic studies, participants use their lived experiences to understand climate change impacts on their community

“Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society's margins, all of us will be impoverished.”

- Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General

Explore

Participants create a climate project from hands-on exploration in areas of focus including science, sustainability, artivism, and photography

“Children cannot gain genuine confidence without experiencing their own competence.”

- Kenneth Ginsburg, Author & Professor of Pediatrics

Empower

Participants utilize various media to share their knowledge, findings, and solutions, with the community, public officials, and environmental actors

“Research has shown that with intentional investments of time, skills, leadership, and new opportunities, youth from disadvantaged communities can thrive as leaders, empower those around them, and work for community change while simultaneously charting new futures for themselves.”

Where We Work

Communities

We work with schools and organizations located in communities that are disproportionately affected by multiple types of environmental pollution and areas with socio-economically disadvantaged populations. These are the communities in most need of youth engagement in the critical steps towards advancing climate and racial justice priorities.
